Bathroom Decor Ideas 2025—A Designer’s Favorite

Writer's picture: Anzah NadeemAnzah Nadeem

Bathrooms may be small, but they sure are among the most important rooms in the house. And, also the trickiest to design 😬

This is because function is paramount in these spaces. So, it can be tricky to know how much tile, color, or lighting to use. You know, there’s always a shiny new faucet that might look better ... but does it also perform well?

Now that we’re heading into 2025, we’re seeing bathroom decor ideas taking a fantastic turn. Homeowners are becoming more comfortable in showcasing their personalities in bathroom design—instead of just focusing on resale value.

Keep reading for the top bathroom decor ideas 2025!

Earthy Color Palettes

Sterile and all-white bathrooms are soon being ditched. Instead, rich earth tones are barging in—and for good. For 2025, many bathrooms will have earthy color palettes. Like beige, terracotta, and soft greens.

Beige and taupe add elegance. These are timeless and versatile, and can pair well with natural wood, metal, or stone (especially important for the spa-like ambiance that’s coming in trend; see the next section for more).

Greens are still in the mix for the upcoming year. But there’s a shift towards olive and softer sages. That means we’ll be moving away from the bold hunter-greens.

Some paint brands’ announcements for their color of the year 2025 really go in line with this trend! If you’re looking for a color that’ll be famous throughout the year—and complements the bathroom decor ideas 2025—you can try one of:

Personal Spas

Your next trip to the spa may not require you to leave the house 😉 In 2025, bathrooms will be designed to resemble luxe retreats—complete with steam baths and more! In fact, we’d like to say people will be using their homes as saunas as much as they can.

Some of our favorite features in this design trend are rainfall showerheads that create the soothing sensation of standing under a waterfall. Steam showers where you can relax. And temperature control features that keep your experience nice and warm.

Moreover, bathtub trends 2025 are seeing deep soaking and freestanding tubs. These not only offer a relaxing bathing experience—but also create a statement spa-like ambiance.

Decor and accessories play a huge role here, too. When it comes to a spa-like ambiance, you definitely want scented candles—this Travel from Home Mini Scented Candle Set will look great on your bathtub caddy. And potted plants that can thrive in low-light and humid conditions. Some of these are:

  • Peace lily

  • Pothos

  • Orchids

  • Spider plant

  • Snake plant

Bonus points if you grow your plant in a Little Aged Terra Cotta Pot; its weathered look creates the perfect spa-like feel.

Patterned Tiles

Those earthy tones are being combined with deeper colors. For example, if you have a medium brown bathroom, you can opt for checkered floor tiles in a marble finish. This adds some extra texture. When it comes to tile patterns—we’re seeing creative layouts. Like simple subway tiles being laid out in more inventive ways. This creates standout designs.

Plus, tile patterns are becoming bolder. For example, herringbone or a basketweave—especially in neutral colors. Hand-painted and 3D tiles are also making a comeback. You see, the approach is to experiment and find what works for your personality.

As bathroom lovers move towards subtle and chic looks, we’re also expecting reduced grout lines (between oversized tiles).

Sustainable Materials

You’ve probably been hearing about this trend, but it’s becoming bigger—and bolder—in 2025. Using sustainable materials helps us make more environmentally conscious decisions. We get to play our part in making sure future generations can also use the resources we are using.

But beyond this, sustainable materials look amazing in the bathroom! Here are some fun ways to add them to your space:

  • Reclaimed wood. Using salvaged wood for vanities can add a beautiful antique touch to the bathroom interior.

  • Bamboo. This grows rapidly, so it is a renewable resource. You can use it for the flooring in your bathroom—and even for your bathtub caddy.

Various companies make efforts to use locally sourced materials. For example, Fireclay Tile creates handmade products—including tiles—and uses recycled materials for this.

Another approach can be repurposing what you have around the home. For example, if you have an old chest of drawers, you might as well mount it onto your bathroom wall as the vanity. An antique piece it will be!

A Spotlight for the Details

Bathrooms are seeing pops of color… but not in the way you’d expect. We’re anticipating so many fun ways to add color to the bathroom. We mean, functional things can be decorative too. It’s really not that serious! Case in point: an artistic toilet paper holder. The same goes for faucets, taps, etc.

Mixed Metallic Finishes

We’re not expecting matching finishes in 2025; instead, designers are encouraging mixed-metal combinations. This lets you be flexible in coordinating with other finishes. For example, plumbing fixtures can be in chrome, while more ‘on-trend’ metals can be used for the hardware and lighting fixtures. This mixed approach creates a curated and relaxed feel. A contrast between brass and black is one we’re seeing a lot!

Artwork for the Walls

Eye-catching artwork isn’t just for above the sofa. It’ll look beautiful on your bathroom walls, too 😉 In 2025, we’re anticipating homeowners will want their bathrooms to reflect their personality as much as they do for other communal spaces of the home.

You do want to make sure that any art you’re hanging in the bathroom isn’t too precious. It’s going to be exposed to humidity (probably splashes of water, too), given the nature of the space. You can shop for thrifted artwork that costs only a few dollars. You won’t have to worry much when replacements are needed, either.

Maximalist Designs

Self-expression in the bathroom is taking centerstage. And, hand in hand, comes maximalism. You can expect the unexpected—say, vintage pieces with modern fixtures; repurposed items with brand new fixtures; bold colors over light bases. Here, we’d also like to mention that scents that will come into play; candles and diffusers will play up the whimsy!

Something Whimsical

In 2025, bathrooms are going to remind you not to take your day too seriously. Basically to lighten up and have fun with your rituals. This will be achieved with whimsical touches throughout the space. For example, a glamorous leopard-print wallpaper bringing the area around the vanity to life.

Floating Vanities

Bathrooms are usually compact spaces—and 2025 is taking steps to minimize this effect! We’re seeing wall-mounted vanities freeing up floor space. This visually opens the room. Simultaneously, they look sleek and modern. And not to forget how they make cleaning a super easy 😁
